Title: Tornado Storm
Dedication: This one is for my dad. I am so sorry it took so long to bring it back. I love you.
Special Thanks: To my friend, Jay for giving me the inspiration needed to give this idea a shot.

Chapter 1

News Report: At around 4 PM in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, a devastating twister has touched down causing a lot of damage. We have learned that it was an EF-4 tornado, and we have reason to believe more may be on the way.

Tatiana Ramirez sighed as she turned off her television. She rose from her bed and left her bedroom looking worried. Her and her father resided in Austin, Texas and this time of year was peak for tornadoes. She hurried down the hall and towards the stairwell. She was in a hurry to leave for cheerleading practice.

She rushed down the stairs and outside to her Jeep. It was yellow in color and she babied it endlessly. She opened the driver’s side and tossed her knapsack and purse onto the passenger side seat. She then climbed into her Jeep and closed the door shut. After sticking her key into the ignition, she turned it on. She let it warm up a little just as a charcoal black BMW pulled into the driveway. She sighed and turned off her car. She rolled down her window and asked, “What do you want, Matthew?”

It was her ex-boyfriend, Matthew Wainwright. He was a muscular teen with dark blonde hair and deep blue eyes. He was a wealthy teen with very thin eyebrows and was thing despite being very muscular. He left his car and said, “I thought we could talk this out.”

“I can’t. I am late for cheerleading practice.” Tatiana said. “I can talk to you later. I guess.” She then turned her car back on and pulled out. She didn’t give him a chance to reply before she drove off. She had had her fill of his verbally abusive behavior towards her, and she had no intention of taking him back.

Cheerleading lasted a good two hours and everything went fairly smoothly. The girls were in rare form and anxious for their next football game, which would be just two days away.

By the time Tatiana got home that night, her father, Benito was in the livingroom watching a news report on television when his daughter arrived home. He glanced up at her and said, “Tati, it looks like we may get more twisters.”

“I know, Papa. I watched the report this afternoon.” She said. She set her stuff on the floor by the stairwell and then hurried into the kitchen. She was surprised to see what her father had made for dinner. “Tacos! Papa, you know its my favorite!” She exclaimed happily. She grinned.

He laughed and said, “I know they are, Sweetheart.”

“Did you eat already?” She asked him.

“Yes, I did.” He said.

Glancing to the sink and seeing his dirty dishes, she knew he was being truthful. “I’ll do dishes after I eat.”

“Okay.” He said. “Their should be plenty left if you want more than two.”

“You know me too well, Dad.” She said, giggling. She made herself three tacos and then joined him in the livingroom. She had also grabbed herself some iced tea to drink. They sat side by side as she ate her dinner. It was a peaceful evening for the most part.

Meanwhile in Lincoln, Nebraska, an EF-3 tornado touched down causing a lot of damage as well as 10 deaths as well. We have reports that a team of storm chasers have arrived on the scene and are busily attempting to predict when and where the next one will hit.

Kyla Ramirez and her team were working on trying to get ahead of this system but so far have had no luck. She sighed as her assistant; Tom Eisley frantically typed away at his laptop keyboard. He then looked up in shock at Kyla. “What?” She asked him. “What is it?”

Tom said, “It looks to hit Centaursville next.”

“My family lives there!” She exclaimed. “Pack it up! We’re heading there next!”

Her team did just that in a hurry.

“When is it supposed to hit?” She asked Tom.

“Late tonight according to doppler.” Tom answered, worriedly.

She nodded as they drove the thirty miles towards her hometown.

Chapter 2

Close to seven that night, someone knocked on the front door. Tatiana answered it and found Matthew standing there. She sighed and asked, “What do you want?” She folded her arms across her chest and glared at him angrily.

“Check your attitude, Tatiana. You know why I am here.” Matthew said. “I want us back together.”

She shook her head firmly and said, “No. It isn’t going to happen. I will not let you go tying me into knots again.” He started to protest, but she cut him off by saying, “You are toxic to me and I can’t take it.”

“We will be together, Tatiana.” He said. “I won’t let you be with anyone else.”

“I don’t need your approval to be happy. That is up to me.” She said and then closed the door in his face.

He angrily left but not before picking up a rock and smashing her Jeep’s windshield with it.

Tatiana and Benito had been watching him through the livingroom window, witnessing his act of vandalism. Benito then went and called the police on him.  A report was filed and then Matthew was arrested for vandalism.

They went to bed close to ten that night. By then the wind was beginning to pick up in strength.

The next morning, Tatiana was the first one up and it was very windy outside. She was quick to notice the tree out front of their house had been knocked down due to the strong winds. She jumped out of bed and threw some clothes on. She quickly threw on her running shoes and then pulled her hair back in a ponytail using a scrunchy. She raced out of her bedroom and to her father’s bedroom, but his room was empty. “Dad?” She called out before leaving his room and hurrying down the stairs. She didn’t bother grabbing anything to eat. She simply left the house and hurried to her Jeep. The windshield had been fixed late the night before and the Jeep was now drivable again. She slid into the driver’s seat and started the engine. She then drove off in search of her father.

Meanwhile in a secluded part of town, Benito had met up with his ex-wife and her team. They were monitoring the skies in search of where the storms were heading. Harley, who had faced losing her mother when she was only four to a twister, sighed as she spotted swirling clouds in the vast distance. “Benito!” She called out as she pointed to the swirling. “It’s about to touch down!”

Benito sucked in his breath as he spotted their daughter’s Jeep approaching them. “Oh God! It’s Tatiana!” He yelled as she drove toward them. He hurried towards her as she stopped next to his own van. “Tati, what are you doing here?”

“I saw the clouds and knew you had to be with the team.” She answered. She noticed her mother and nodded. “Hello, Mom.”

“Hi Tatiana.” Harley said as she also approached their daughter. “It’s not safe for you to be here.”

“It’s not safe at home right now either.” She retorted. “The twister is going to touch down somewhere in town. The wind knocked down the tree out front of our house early this morning.”

“I know, “Benito said. “I saw that it did.” He sighed as he glanced to his ex-wife. “Tati is going to have to stay with us.”

“I know.” Harley said. She glanced over and motioned for her assistant to join them. She glanced back to Tatiana and added, “There is someone here you should meet.”

Tatiana looked confused as she glanced to her mother’s approaching assistant. “Who? Your assistant?”

“Tati, he is more than just my assistant.” She explained. “Pablo is your brother. He was Cory’s twin.”

Her daughter shook her head. “That’s not possible. You said Cory was a triplet.”

“He was.” She admitted. “The third child was given up for adoption just before you were born when they were six.”

Both Tatiana and her father were in shock. “We had four children?” He asked his ex-wife.

“Yes.” She admitted. “Three boys and one girl.”

Tatiana sighed as the winds picked up even more. It began swirling close to their location. “We better continue this chat later. Right now, we need to find cover.

“Right. It’s about to drop-down right-on top of us!” Harley called out. “Let’s move out!” They all turned and hurried to their vehicles and drove off quickly.

Chapter 3

Each vehicle headed straight out of town to safety. As they did, Harley called various news stations and ordered them to issue a storm warning stating that a tornado was touched down and heading in that direction. They aired the warnings on each station as the twisters surged through the town knocking down trees, powerlines, and more.

While driving alongside one with her driver side window down, Harley called out over her radio, “It looks like it’s an EF-3.”

“I see it.” Her ex-husband replied. “Let’s just hope no one gets hurt.”

“I know.” She said and sighed. Both meant more than just the tornado. They were also speaking of their family, too. They both knew Tatiana would not just sit back and let this new information go without looking more into it.

By the time the winds died down, no one had been injured by the twister and their daughter had disappeared. She had traveled to the next town over. She was searching for her mother’s sister, Rose.

She pulled up outside her aunt’s house close to two in the afternoon. She sighed as she turned the engine off on her car. She left her Jeep and hurried up to the door.

Rose immediately came to the door and opened it. “Hello, Tatiana. Come on in.” She moved aside so her niece could enter the house and they moved to the livingroom. They sat down side by side on the couch. “Your mother called and told me you’d be coming.”

Tatiana nodded and sighed. “Who is the third triplet? Who is my brother?”

Rose took a deep breath and said, “His birth name was Lucas. Your mother would call him Luc.” She paused before adding. “After he was adopted, his adoptive parents changed his name, but they stayed in town. It was a private adoption, so no one ever knew his connection to any of you.”

“He lives in town?!” She exclaimed angrily. “Do you know who he is?” By now she had stood up in shock. Then, a familiar feeling radiated through her body and she sat down quickly. “What type of boy was he?”

“He was a hot-head. He was always getting into trouble and never took no for an answer.” Rose said.

All of the color seemed to drain from her face, and she began to feel faint. “Now, I know why I never truly loved Matthew. It’s because he is my brother.” She sat back down as her aunt stood up. She hurried to the kitchen and got her niece a glass of water.

She returned and set the glass down next to her as she said, “The boy you use to date?”

Tatiana nodded and said, “Something always felt off when we dated which is why I broke up with him.” She then added, “He was arrested last night after he threw a rock through my Jeep’s windshield.”

“Oh no.” Rose said and sighed. Just then, Rose’s home phone rang. She walked over and picked up her cordless and answered it. “Hello?”

“Rose, it’s Benito. I have some terrible news.” He said. He sounded like he was crying.

“What’s wrong?” Rose asked, worriedly.

“Harley has been injured in an accident.” Benito said. “She’s gone.”

“WHAT?!” Rose yelled into the phone as she burst into hysterical tears. She dropped the phone and dropped to her knees as she sobbed.

Tatiana picked up the phone but by then her father had hung up. She then hurried to her aunt’s side and demanded to know what he had said. “What’s going on? What happened?”

“It’s your mother.” Rose said as she sobbed. “She’s gone.”

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN GONE?!” Tatiana yelled, clearly upset. Her brown eyes welled up with tears. “Please don’t tell me what I think you are.”

“I am so sorry, Sweetie.” Rose said as her niece began to sob. She wrapped her arms around the crying teen and they both continued to cry helplessly.

Meanwhile, Pablo hurried up to his father and said, “Papa, we need to move. Another twister is headed for Oklahoma City and we are still 20 miles away.”

Benito nodded and told the team, “Okay. Let’s get moving.” They quickly got their things together and they were off.

Fifteen miles away, a strange figure walked into the police station. The person was dressed in all black. The person approached the front desk and said, “I’d like to post bail for Matthew Wainwright.”

The police officer at the desk asked for the person’s name.

The person lowered their black hood and said, “Adam Ramirez.”
